Visualising a machine with AR in 7 steps

Step 1: Digitise the machine in 3D
Before you can visualise your machine with Augmented Reality, it must first be converted to a 3D model. There are several ways to do this, depending on the complexity of the machine and your expertise. If you already have a CAD model, you have a head start. If not, there are plenty of software programmes available to help you model your machine in 3D. Examples include Solidworks, AutoCAD, Creo and other 3D modelling software used in industry to create 3D objects.

Step 2: Choose the right AR platform
Once you have a 3D CAD model, you can start looking for AR platform providers. Make sure your machine is suitable for the chosen platform. Do you want to independently add notes, videos and images or create tutorials around a 3D object of a machine? Then it is important to look for a platform with an online editor to enter instructions.

Step 3: Integrate the 3D CAD model with the platform
You have the choice of finding a platform where you can develop the solution yourself – or opt for a solution from a company that does it for you.
